CASE STUDY

In the state of Florida, we installed our embedded in-road solar markers on two curved roadways that experienced safety issues and roadway departure crashes. One project was a rural four lane divided high-speed arterial in Miami and the other was an urban two lane undivided low speed arterial in Jacksonville. Both projects contained conventional markings, signage and streetlights in accordance with MUTCD standards. Five years prior to the installation of our in-road lights, the Miami project experienced 8 nighttime roadway departure crashes including 2 fatalities. After the installation of our in-road solar markers, this same project experienced zero crashes the year after. Similarly, the Jacksonville project had 25 crashes prior to our installation, and zero crashes the year and a half afterwards.

SAFETY TOOL

SAVING LIVES is the United States Department of Transportation's primary goal.

Working to achieve safety among our MOST VULNERABLE ROAD USERS is paramount.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the economic and societal harm from motor vehicle crashes amounted to a whopping $871 billion in a single year. Of that total price tag, $277 billion attributed to economic costs and, although there is no value to loss of life, $594 billion was spent due to injuries and fatalities.

While the economic and societal costs of crashes are staggering, this clearly demonstrates that investments in safety are worth every penny to reduce frequency and severity of these tragic events.
Conventional current nighttime curve and lane delineation techniques such as markings, signing and Roadway Pavement Markings (RPMs) have limited visibility, rely on external light source and do not provide sufficient time for drivers to react to hazards ahead. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) states the most effective countermeasure needs to be in the path of the low beam headlights. One of the most effective messages that we can provide drivers, especially distracted drivers, is between the headlights.

Our  iiRPMs  are low-cost, ready-to-use improvements that will enhance the safety of our roads and highways. These safety products will provide an economical benefit and most importantly SAVE LIVES.
